About me
My name is Štěpán Kovář. I live in the Czech republic and work as a Mechanical & Piping Lead Engineer with an international company.
I started working with Autodesk Plant 3D in 2011. Since day one I have enjoyed working with Autodesk Plant 3D, namely because of its unique possibilities and level of customisation. After a few projects designed in the Autodesk Plant 3D, "setting" and "finding" other options / solutions in this software have become my hobby - a genuine relax from my daily work agenda.
Why Python script?
Throughout my career and in my work experience, I have repeatedly come to realize how important the graphic part of a project is. I wanted to be able to check various items according to their shape in the Autodesk Navisworks or in other coordination software.
There are three options in the Autodesk Plant 3D:
1. Standart catalogue shape - genuinely limited.
2. Block based component - sometimes excessively detailed or not available for downloading.
3. Python script - customisable in the number of details in order to achieve the best result (3D model vs 2D ortho layout) plus - it is always parametric.
Personally, I go for the option No. 3 which "opens a new door" in the Autodesk Plant 3D.
